Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) - Bachelor of Business

Course summary

Understanding how people think and behave is an essential skill in any business. This not only improves the well-being of staff but ensures that ethical decisions are made in line with the organisation’s culture and values. For psychologists, strong business skills are essential if looking to establish their own private practice.

A double degree in arts psychology and business equips you with problem-solving skills, empathy, and strategic thinking for a successful career in a wide range of business and mental health roles.

The Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) is the first stage of qualification required to work as a professional psychologist.

Throughout the Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) you will undertake the scientific study of the human mind and its functions, especially those affecting behaviour. This degree provides comprehensive, foundational knowledge in the processes basic to human psychological functioning.

In the Bachelor of Business, you will gain practical, real-world experience and make professional connections. You will develop core skills across all business functions, as you build specialist knowledge in a chosen field to excel in today's dynamic and complex business environment.

A double degree at UOW provides a world-class qualification in less time and at less cost than studying the two degrees separately. Having a double degree will give you a competitive advantage in a crowded job market.

    Accreditation & professional recognition

For the Bachelor of Arts (Psychology)

Completion of four years in Psychology is an important step for registration as a psychologist in Australia. The Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) is accredited as the first three years of study. To complete the four years, students must complete an Honours year to meet the academic requirements for eligibility for provisional registration as a psychologist. An additional two years of education and training are necessary to apply for general registration. This can be through a fifth year at University plus one year of supervised practice in the community or an approved postgraduate degree accredited at the fifth and sixth year level. You can find more information on general registration pathways on the Psychology Board of Australia website.

    For the Bachelor of Business

The University of Wollongong has been awarded with the prestigious Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International) accreditation. Being accredited by AACSB is public recognition that we are among the world’s top 6% of business schools – that our curriculum meets the highest standards, our students learn from the best business minds, and that our graduates have the highly sought-after skills, knowledge, and experience that today’s global employers are looking for.

Some majors within the Bachelor of Business enable graduates to meet the membership requirements of relevant professional associations. For more information, visit Professional Accreditation and Recognition.
