Our Degrees

The Bachelor of Science is a flexible three year degree which allows you to choose from a variety of majors. In addition to these majors, opportunities exist for you to select additional minors to explore other areas of study. You can also choose to specialise with our range of Honours degrees.

I have always been passionate about geology and earth science and learning about nature. With the Bachelor of Science at UOW, half the degree is practical work. One of the best experiences I’ve had throughout my degree was going out to the Flinders Ranges for two weeks to map, hike and identify rocks and their relationships within the environment. That was a fantastic, once in a lifetime experience. Practical learning experiences like this are vital for geology especially because you need to see the rocks in the field as they are. It helps to solidify that knowledge and it’s an experience that you can’t get in a classroom.

I chose to study Geology because I have had a passion for it since I was a child as I have a love for how the world work and always want to know more. The study of Geology is so important, especially now as we are running through our resources at an incredible rate and they can't be reproduced in a quick manner. We need to understand these formations better, find new economic opportunities and to better understand the world.

Studying overseas has allowed me to form connections in two very different places and hopefully that can be a stepping-stone.
