Bachelor of Pre-Medicine, Science and Health (Biomedical Research) | 2018

The Biomedical Research major encompasses the exciting and rapidly evolving fields of proteomics, genetic engineering and advanced techniques in molecular analysis. A new generation of pharmaceuticals, vaccines, hormones and anti-inflammatory agents are being developed using these technologies. This major will provide you with the tools and knowledge to work in biomedical science research and the biotechnology industry. Potential future pathways for further education include progression to postgraduate medicine, or a research-based Honours or Masters program in biology or medical biotechnology.  As a graduate of this major professional career pathways include but are not limited to, research positions in universities, colleges, research institutes and hospitals; industry positions in pharmaceutical or biotechnology companies; Government positions in health promotion and health economics; as well as careers in patent law, consulting, public policy, higher education, media or communications.

Major Learning Outcomes

Students graduating from a major in Biomedical Research will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate broad and coherent knowledge in the principles and concepts associated with biological sciences.

  2. Apply knowledge and skills in biological sciences to the authoring of scientific works.

  3. Demonstrate skills in experimental design and performance.
