Supply Chain Management | 2017

Overview

Supply chain management is concerned with the entire life cycle of a product or service, from before it’s made, to how it is disposed of, and how it moves between every stage. As well as goods and services, supply chain managers analyse and manage information from the suppliers, through intermediaries, to the customer—and their customers, if your client is a business.

It includes managing technical processes: both within the firm between functions such as procurement, manufacturing and marketing; and between organisations such as manufacturers, distributors, wholesalers and retailers. You will gain an overall understanding of supply chain structures and develop an understanding of procurement and inventory management models, the role of enabling technologies within the supply chain, and performance measurements techniques.

During this major you will learn the principles and tools associated with ‘quality management' and the relationships between e-commerce and supply chains. You’ll gain an understanding of total supply chain management and have the opportunity to specialise in a number of areas such as logistics, operations, systems thinking, quality and supply chain strategies.
