Global Sustainable Development Major | 2018

This major is available for students studying the Bachelor of International Studies.

With 2.4 billion people on the planet living on less than US $2 a day, poverty and inequality are two of the biggest challenges of our time. Equally, environmental change is a major concern that will impact human activity for the foreseeable future.

Students undertaking this major will acquire knowledge of the key theories, approaches and practices for promoting human development in the post-World War II period. In core subjects they will study the ethical debates about key global challenges and explore the interaction between human and environmental security. In elective subjects, students can specialise in environmental issues from a range of different disciplinary perspectives or they can focus on issues of development from an economic perspective.

The Global Sustainable Development major is available to students in the Bachelor of International Studies (BIntSt).
