Course summary

The Undergraduate Certificate in Business provides students with a pathway into the study of business at the university level. Students are provided with a range of learning experiences and opportunities in discipline-based subjects including marketing, accounting, management and finance, at the tertiary level. This introduction to technical skills, knowledge and capabilities prepares students for further study and employment in the field of Business. The Undergraduate Certificate provides pathways for entry into the Diploma of Business with 24 credit points.

Undergraduate Certificates are higher education qualifications of six months duration that may be used to articulate with existing qualifications at AQF levels 5, 6, or 7. They qualify individuals with knowledge and skills for further study, professional upskilling, employment and participation in lifelong learning. See the course outline for more information.

The course is designed for domestic students, studying in Australia. UOW College is offering Commonwealth Supported Places for eligible students for this course. This means the Australian government will subsidise your tuition fees by up to 75%. To qualify for this fee subsidy, you must meet the criteria, i.e. be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, a permanent resident of Australia, or a permanent Australian Humanitarian visa holder.

Progression Guidelines

To qualify for the award of the Undergraduate Certificate in Business, students must achieve a minimum result of 50% in any four approved subjects. Students who meet the requirements for the award of the Undergraduate Certificate can progress to the Diploma of Business with 24 points of credit. The Diploma of Business articulates into the following courses at the University of Wollongong with up to 48 credit points of advanced standing:

  • Bachelor of Business
  • Bachelor of Business Administration

This course is accredited by the University of Wollongong and delivered by UOW College (RTO: 91159). UOW College is a registered business name of UOWC Ltd (ABN: 14 105 312 329).

HSC Assessment Results

Students can be admitted into a Undergraduate Certificate in Business based on their HSC Subject performance as indicated below:

  • 4 HSC subjects ≥ 65%, OR
  • 3 HSC subjects ≥ 70%

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum ATAR 45 (Australian Tertiary Admission Rank), OR
  • Interstate ATAR equivalent (such as Victoria’s ENTER or Queensland OP), OR
  • Results in an overseas qualification deemed equivalent to minimum ATAR, OR
  • International Baccalaureate (IB)

If any of the above entry requirements are not met, applications will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
