The Foundation Studies Extended program can get you guaranteed* entry into the first year of a range of degrees at the University of Wollongong (UOW).
The course is designed for international students, studying in Australia.
The Foundation Studies Extended program has been specifically designed for students who have not met the direct entry requirements for a UOW bachelor’s degree.
You’ll develop study skills and habits, including time management, essay writing, group work and presentation skills; and become familiar with the academic standards and expectations at university.
UOW College is offering Commonwealth Supported Places for eligible students for this course. This means the Australian government will subsidise your tuition fees by up to 75%. To qualify for this fee subsidy, you must meet the criteria, i.e. be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, a permanent resident of Australia, or a permanent Australian Humanitarian visa holder. *Guarantee is subject to meeting UOW entry requirements.

This course accepts International students only. Domestic students who are interested in a pathway course into UOW should visit the University Entrance Certificate page.

ENGLISH REQUIREMENTS
The following IELTS Academic scores are required to gain admission to Foundation Studies Extended:
- Overall IELTS Academic score of 5.0 with 5.0 in Reading and Writing, or equivalent
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS COMPLETED IN ENGLISH: Applicants may be considered as meeting the English language requirements if successfully completing two (2) years of secondary or tertiary study at an approved institution where:
- the language of instruction was English; and
- the institution is located in a country where the official language is English.
The following citizenships may be considered for an English language waiver under the above guideline: Bahamas, Barbados, Canada, Fiji, Ireland, Jamaica, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Singapore, Solomon Islands, South Africa, Tonga, Trinidad & Tobago, UK, USA.
Academic transcripts and an official letter from the institution certifying that English was the sole language of instruction and assessment must be provided. Previous study in English is considered on a case-by-case basis and does not automatically meet UOW's English language requirement.

Upon successful completion of this course, you may progress into most UOW bachelor's degrees.
There are three Streams in the Foundation Studies program, allowing you to study subjects relevant to their chosen degree: Stream 1 in Business and Humanities; Stream 2 in Sciences and Information Technology; and Stream 3 in Engineering, Mathematics, Nuclear Science and Physics.
There are no pathways into double degrees, four-year professional degrees, Law, Bachelor of Nursing, Bachelor of Social Work, or the Bachelor of Economics and Finance.
