The Diploma of Information Technology Fast Track can get you guaranteed* entry into the second year of a Bachelor of Information Technology, Bachelor of Business Information Systems or Bachelor of Computer Science at the University of Wollongong (UOW), or into the first year second session of the Bachelor of Technology at the University of Wollongong.
The course is designed for international students, studying in Australia.

In the Diploma of Information Technology Fast Track you will address these fundamental questions and gain the skills to be better prepared to succeed at your UOW bachelor. You’ll explore various disciplines, including programming, systems analysis, networks and web technologies and graduate with a Higher Education Diploma to help get you into the workforce while completing your bachelor's degree.
We offer three intakes a year, allowing you the flexibility to choose when you commence. The duration of this course is 7 months full-time, or part-time equivalent. See the course outline for more information.

Recent Secondary Education Admission Criteria These criteria may be used to gain admission to this course for students who are currently in year 12 or have recently completed their secondary education.
Recent secondary education students can gain admission to this course via non-ATAR or ATAR-based options.
NON-ATAR ADMISSION OPTIONS With these options students may be admitted on the basis of criteria other than ATAR.
Non-ATAR admissions at UOW take an individual approach to understanding potential for academic success. Each student is assessed based on key qualities across academic readiness, motivation & passion, planning & persistence, and communication & collaboration.

ATAR-BASED ADMISSION OPTIONS With these options, students may be admitted on the basis of ATAR or ATAR plus additional criteria (e.g. an audition or individual subject results).

The minimum score for guaranteed entry is an ATAR Selection Rank of 55*.
Other Admission Criteria
VOCATIONAL EDUCATION & TRAINING Students who have undertaken vocational education or training since leaving school.
HIGHER EDUCATION STUDY Students who have studied a University course, or completed a bridging or enabling course.
WORK & LIFE EXPERIENCE Students admitted on the basis of previous achievement other than higher education study, vocational education & training, or recent secondary education.
CREDIT FOR PRIOR LEARNING
Upon successful completion of the Diploma of IT, you will receive credit of 48 credit points towards a Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT), Bachelor of Business Information Systems (BBIS) or Bachelor of Computer Science (BCompSc) at UOW. You will be required to meet minimum subject requirements in order to progress from the Diploma of IT into the second year of a BIT, BBIS or BCompSc.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
- ATAR equivalent 55, OR,
- Minimum 70% in 4 HSC Subjects (or equivalent), OR,
- Minimum 75% in 3 HSC Subjects, (or equivalent), OR,
- Interstate ATAR equivalent (such as Victoria’s ENTER or Queensland's OP), OR
- Results in an overseas qualification deemed equivalent to minimum ATAR, OR
- International Baccalaureate (IB)
If any of the above entry requirements are not met, applications will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
ASSUMED KNOWLEDGE AND RECOMMENDED STUDIES
UOW College assumes students will have studied Year 12 HSC Mathematics Advanced (any result) OR Year 12 HSC Mathematics Standard 2 ≥60%.
ENGLISH REQUIREMENTS
To gain entry into this course you need to have met the following requirements:
IELTS Academic 6.0 (min 5.5 in Reading and Writing) or equivalent completed in the last two years; or
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS COMPLETED IN ENGLISH: Applicants may be considered as meeting the English language requirement if successfully completing two (2) years of secondary or tertiary study at an approved institution where:
- the language of instruction was English; and
- the institution is located in a country where the official language is English.
Academic transcripts and an official letter from the institution certifying that English was the sole language of instruction and assessment must be provided. Previous study in English is considered on a case-by-case basis and does not automatically meet UOW's English language requirement.
The following citizenships may be considered for an English language waiver under the above guideline: Bahamas, Barbados, Canada, Fiji, Ireland, Jamaica, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Singapore, Solomon Islands, South Africa, Tonga, Trinidad & Tobago, UK, USA.
