Course summary

The Diploma of Information Technology Standard Session can get you guaranteed* entry into the second year of a Bachelor of Information Technology, Bachelor of Business Information Systems or Bachelor of Computer Science at the University of Wollongong (UOW), or into the first year (with credit) of the Bachelor of Technology at the University of Wollongong.

The course is designed for domestic students, studying in Australia.

In the Diploma of Information Technology Standard Session you will address these fundamental questions and gain the skills to be better prepared to succeed at your UOW bachelor. You’ll explore various disciplines, including programming, systems analysis, networks and web technologies and will graduate with a Higher Education Diploma to help get you into the workforce while completing your bachelor's degree.

UOW College is offering Commonwealth Supported Places for eligible students for this course. This means the Australian government will subsidise your tuition fees by up to 75%. To qualify for this fee subsidy, you must meet the criteria, i.e. be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, a permanent resident of Australia, or a permanent Australian Humanitarian visa holder. *Guarantee is subject to meeting UOW entry requirements.

We offer three intakes a year, allowing you the flexibility to choose when you commence. The duration of this course is 12 months full-time, or part-time equivalent. See the course outline for more information.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum ATAR 35;
    OR;
  • Minimum 65% in 4 HSC Subjects;
    OR;
  • Minimum 70% in 3 HSC Subjects
Applicants who completed Year 12, or left school, more than 2 years ago (either with or without an ATAR or HSC) will be required to undertake a basic literacy and numeracy online test to determine eligibility for this course.

ASSUMED KNOWLEDGE AND RECOMMENDED STUDIES

UOW College assumes students will have studied Year 12 HSC Mathematics Advanced and achieved any result OR Year 12 HSC Mathematics Standard 2 and achieved minimum 60%.Applicants who do not do not meet the 'Assumed Knowledge and Recommended Studies' requirement for this course are advised to complete an additional subject - please refer to the Course Outline for further details.
