Educational Leadership
The course information on this page is for new students commencing their degree in 2016 only.

The Master of Education (Educational Leadership) is for people who are currently in leadership roles or who wish to pursue leadership positions in a wide range of organisations including schools, private industry, training providers, government and policy related fields.
This program offers subjects that explore a range of educational issues including relationship management, policy, cross-cultural perspectives and change factors.
Course Learning Outcomes
Students graduating from the Master of Education (Educational Leadership) will be able to:
- Demonstrate advanced understanding of the theories and practices of educational leadership in relevant organisational settings.
- Analyse critically, reflect on and synthesise complex problems, concepts and theories in educational leadership in relevant organisational settings.
- Undertake higher order conceptual and practical research in leadership theories and/or selected empirical evidence to demonstrate analytical and applied skills.
- Interpret pedagogical knowledge and transmit professional leadership skills to specialist and non-specialist audiences.
- Communicate effectively and collaboratively with colleagues, students and relevant stakeholders.
- Use advanced knowledge of educational leadership and management theory and practice and critical thinking skills to solve complex problems relevant to educational leadership and management contexts .
- Display ethical, responsible and professional behaviour and conduct in engagement with colleagues and key stakeholders at all levels.
Course Structure
The MEd (Educational Leadership) requires:
- The successful completion of 72 credit points comprising:
- 7 core subjects (42cp). It is recommended that EDGZ921 be completed within the first 2 sessions and EDGL941 be completed in the final session of the degree;
- 3 subjects (18cp) selected from the Educational Leadership specialisation; and
- 2 electives (12cp) selected from any Master of Education specialisation.
- No more than 4 subjects (24cp) will be at 800 level.
