The Graduate Certificate in Business is suitable for current managers and employees who are seeking career promotion. Students will improve their foundation knowledge on marketing, accounting and finance, organisational behaviour and management, global business challenges and perspectives, and also wanting to improve their insight on the application of theory and practice in business.

The course is fully nested with Master of Business, Master of International Business and Master of Science, meaning that students can progress to those Masters programs with credit for all four subjects completed.

Progression to other Masters programs offered by the Sydney Business School, including the MBA, may also be possible with some credit.

We value the importance of prior learning and work experience in this course and understand that not all mature age working professionals have completed an undergraduate degree. If you fit this profile, still apply for the course, we will assess your other relevant tertiary qualifications or substantial relevant professional or managerial experience.

Academic Entry Requirements

  • A Bachelor degree deemed equivalent to an Australian Bachelor degree, or
  • a tertiary academic qualification of at least 3 years' duration fulltime, or
  • 3 years' fulltime equivalent managerial/professional work experience, or
  • 7 years' fulltime equivalent general work experience.

Credit Transfer

Upon successful completion of the Graduate Certificate in Business, students may enrol in a Masters program offered by Sydney Business School. Students will be granted credit for four subjects in the following degrees:


  • Master of Business (all single or double major programs)

  • Master of International Business

  • Master of Science (Logistics and/or Project Management)

Progression to other Masters programs offered by the Sydney Business School, including the MBA and the Master of International Business, may also be possible with some credit.
