Course Description
|
|
Accountancy is about analysing and communicating the financial performance of a business or organisation. As well as being an essential part of a responsible, profitable business, good accounting is also essential in public and not for profit sectors, from mental health to environmental sustainability. Accountants, whether they work in a large multinational, a government agency or a small company, play a pivotal role in advising internal and external stakeholders' on the financial direction of the enterprise.
An emphasis on integrating accounting theory and practice allows students to experience the diverse areas of accountancy. Information technology now plays an integral part in this field and this degree aims to produce accountants with superior information and communication skills.
The Accountancy major is available at the Shoalhaven Campus and at UOW's Education Centres in Batemans Bay, Bega, Loftus and Moss Vale.
Students wanting professional accreditation MUST consult with the Program Co-ordinator early in their studies. This is especially important for those doing double majors and double degrees.
In 2009, an ATAR of 75.30 was required to gain entry to the Bachelor of Commerce (Accountancy) at the Shoalhaven Campus and Education Centres; a UAI of 77.10 was required if studied at Loftus.
