Course Description

The Graduate Certificate in Occupational Hygiene Practice aims to develop the basic skills necessary to evaluate workplaces for worker exposure to hazardous substances.
The program focuses on key aspects of occupational hygiene, including the measurement and control of hazardous substances, noise and epidemiology, and toxicology.
Articulation arrangements allow progression to the Master of Science (Occupational Hygiene Practice), provided a credit average is maintained in the Graduate Certificate.
Subjects are taught in intensive delivery mode over 5-day periods, followed by assignments and a final examination. For information regarding the availability of subjects, please contact the Program Co-ordinator.

The School of Health Sciences has modern purpose-built teaching and research facilities, including well equipped physiology, histology, biochemistry, exercise physiology, exercise rehabilitation, nutrition and biomechanics teaching laboratories. The anatomy laboratory is one of the few cadaver-based facilities outside of traditional medical faculties.
Research facilities include laboratories for thermal physiology, metabolic biochemistry, cellular physiology, diabetes research, exercise physiology, musculoskeletal function, cardiovascular physiology, nutrition science, dietetics and biomechanics. |
